Pit Type Protective Atmosphere Quenching Furnace is a periodically running furnace, mainly used in quenching, tempering and carburizing for various kinds of moulds and mechanical pieces. When used with the furnace control cabinet, it can automatically adjust and record the temperature.

Pit Type Protecting atmosphere Quenching Furnace consists of furnace shell, heat element and temperature control system.

Furnace shell is welded shaped steel and steel plate. The furnace chamber is built by laying ultra-light high-alumina bubble bricks. Insulation layer is made from Aluminosilicate refractory fibers, diatomaceous earth (or Vermiculite powder) bulk material, for improving the heat-insulating property of furnace shell. Heat element is located on the bricks with resistance wire hooks. There are heat-resistant stainless steel welded furnace retort and charging basket in the hearth box. The work pieces about to be treated will be put in the charging basket. A ventilator is mounted on the furnace shell to enforce air circulation, so as to make the temperature and atmosphere well-distributed in furnace. There is ventilator shaft housing and a gland bush on it; they are both cooled by water.

An electric pusher is used for lifting the furnace cover. On the lifting shaft, there is a limit switch. When the lifting shaft rises, the nether limit switch will automatically cut off the power of the blower so as to avoid operating danger. When the furnace cover rises to the utmost, the upper limit switch will automatically cut off the power of the hydraulic equipment, in case of any accidents.

For controlling the flow of the liquids, through a flow meter and a needle valve, a dropper, which allows three kinds of liquids to splash into at the same time, is equipped to this kind of furnace.

In the upward side of the furnace cover, there are a water cooled sample cell, an air admit hole and an air exit hole, which when used with infrared ray CO2 analyzer can carry out the technological operation of automatic carbon potential control.
